Art Works is a unique new artist studio environment designed for public access to watch the artist at work. As such, full time and flex space artists will need to be comfortable in interacting with the public, talking freely about their art and answering any questions. Artists can sell their work directly from their studios, and engage in contracts for commissioned work.

If selected as one of the Art Works Artists, how would such public interaction help or hinder your work? *
Full Time artists will have 24/7 access to the studio space. However, due to the very nature of the public workspace interactions, each full time artist must commit to working in their space at least 20 hours a week, and flex artists at least one weekend per month (Mar - Nov: Friday evening, Saturday day and evening, Sunday afternoon; are defined as the weekend.) Additionally all full time artists will be expected to be working in their studios on a rotating weekend schedule (when the public is most likely to attend) as defined above. Are you willing and able to make such a commitment?

To help raise awareness and draw visitors to Art Works, one of the additional features of the consortium will be to offer classes to the public. Class ideas might be teaching a skill such as multi-session painting classes or ceramics, woodworking, or teaching a single project such as natural dyeing, Paint Night, or the like. Could you envision teaching a class or classes? If so, please briefly describe what you would teach.
Camaraderie and collaboration are key benefits to the new consortium. As a member of Art Works, what can you offer to the group that would help all of us become better professionals? For example, I spent 25 years in financial services and business before ever entering the art field. Additionally, I have done a respectable number of exhibitions and gallery shows, as well as having worked with an agent. I am willing to teach others what I have learned through these experiences. Perhaps you have similar skills or have worked in marketing or with websites or with galleries and are equally willing to share what you have learned and help others to learn. Please elaborate here what strengths you feel you can bring to the group.

Please know that becoming a part of Art Works is a juried process. We will be looking for a variety of artists within all skill and experience levels to fill the studios. "Professionalism" and "pride in what they do" describe the artists we are looking to join us in Art Works.

Paramount to the success of this venture is each artist's personal commitment to developing, improving, and advancing their own artwork and career.

We, the artists, are the "product" of Art Works. People come to see artists at work, to engage with them, and to purchase from them. If artists are not in their studios, the venture falls flat. Therefore, also paramount to the success of this venture and the choice of the artists for Art Works is the artists' understanding and commitment to the concept, and to the group mission as a whole.
