ARTIST Ellie Moniz

I find the layered transparency of watercolor calming and inviting, while consistently keeping me on my toes. Subjects I gather the most inspiration from are cityscapes and coastal scenes. I find stark shadows exciting and it is my goal to capture these moments in time.

Display Artist Ellie Moniz is a watercolor artist who specializes in cityscapes and coastal scenes. Ellie graduated from Millersville University with a BA in Art in 1999. She took one watercolor class in college and immediately fell in love with the medium.

She continued to paint while traveling and holding other jobs for the next 15 years or so and in 2015, she decided it was time to turn her passion into a career. While there have been some ups and downs – a breast cancer diagnosis in 2017 and a pause in art shows in 2020 due to the pandemic, life as a full-time artist has been overwhelmingly positive for her.

Ellie paints every day in her home studio. In Huntingdon Valley, PA where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
